Stack Overflow conducted a worldwide survey for a developer in 2015 and Notepad++ was voted as the most used text editor across the world with nearly 34.7% of the 26056 respondents claimed that they are using it daily.
In 2014 they voted Notepad++ as the most famous text editor with 40% of the 16294 members mentioned it as their most loved text editor. In 2011, Lifehacker described Notepad++ as best programming text editor for windows by stating that “If you prefer a simple, lightweight, and extensible programming plain text editor our first choice is free and open-source Notepad++. But some of the community services of Notepad++ like forums and bug tracker remains on the Sourceforge until Notepad++ left the Sourceforge completely on 2015. In 2010, Notepad++ moved out of the US territorial jurisdiction by releasing on Tuxfamily, France. Notepad++ is based on the Scintilla editor component and written in C++ with Winn32 API calls using STL to increase the performance and to reduce the size of the program. Notepad++ was first released as a Windows application in Sourceforge on November 25, 2003. As his company rejected his project, he developed Notepad++ Offline Installer in his spare time. As he was dissatisfied with the poor performance of Java-based text editor, he started to develop the text editor written in C++ with the Scintilla (A free open-source library which provides a text editing component function). Notepad++ supports tabbed editing so that the users can work with multiple open in a single window. Notepad++ Offline Installer is a computer suite free software used as the text editor and source code editor.
